"What is Black Henna?"
What's often sold as Black Henna, is commonly found in tourist or vacation areas where unscrupulous vendors prey on people who will be long gone before the potentially damaging effects of the chemical additives will appear, often days later. These vendors are anonymous, often transient and often operate with impunity, without interference from local law enforcement.

In some cases, what's sold as Black Henna may be henna mixed with chemicals, but often, it is nothing more than powdered black hair dye mixed into a paste and applied to the skin the same way that traditional henna is applied. The result is a dark black stain, but which is often accompanied by itching, stinging, blisters, scars, and in rare cases, allergic reactions so severe that hospitilization may be necessary.
